Founded in 1977 in New York, Village People were a combination of ingenuity and exaggeration that gained international notoriety during the golden years of disco. The innovative formation reached celebrity status with songs that triumphed on both the British and North American charts; songs the likes of "Go West", "Macho Man", "In the Navy" or their biggest hit, "Y.M.C.A." Noted for their unique costumes, catchy tunes and suggestive lyrics full of innuendo, Village People were a "madeto-measure" band, as was the case with other similar, subsequent successes.
